Sometime in the next couple of days I (Erica) will be assigning a current event project. Students will each be responsible for finding an article (or two) related to earth science, write a 3 page paper, create a visual, and present. Each student will have a different day to present throughout the semester. Everything is due on the day that they present. References need to be sited. This is challenging for students.
9/3/09 Today an assignment is due in my class (Erica) where students need to write a reflection (1-2 paragraphs) on a time when they acted like a scientist outside of class.

9/11 - Erica - Ethan's project is due November 12th. Thanks.
9/11 - Erica - All of my students have been assigned the Data Book project. It is due Sept. 25th. All students should have a rubric and description - 1 title page, 6 graphing pages.
9/14 - Erica - There will be a unit test on Wednesday. Energy, matter, observation, inference, metrics, safety.
9/15 - Erica - Simple energy posters are due today. They need the energy type at the top a definition in their own words and a picture depicting the energy. It is on a piece of computer paper, but should be colorful and professional. They need to be familiar enough with the information to share it with the class today.
9/14- Jody- Earth Science Gen- Current Event due friday- classwork- Matter and Energy Notes and Periodic Table worksheet
9/15- Jody- Joe Chabot owes The Data Book and Current Events
9/22 - Erica - They are working on two labs right now. Lab 4 which involves latitude longitude and the Autumnal Equinox. Both will be due Thursday.
9/24 - Erica - Data books due TOMORROW
9/24 - Erica - Clay mountain lab due monday. They are creating a topographic map from a clay model they created.
9/30 - Erica - Test tomorrow (10/1) Soils, mapping, seasons, and past material. Also there is a watershed map that needs to be completed for tomorrow. Outline the watershed, calculate the area, and calculate the distance of the drainage system.
10/8 - Erica - Quiz regarding the moon tomorrow (10/9). I have given all of the students progress reports and I am telling them to hold on to them and show their tutorial teachers. Many of them are missing assignments. Sarah Jackson is falling further and further behind.
Sarah Jackson says that she doesn't know what work she has. I just saw her down in the Planning Room. I am SURE she was given the missing assignment list but does not have a clue......... (Chris 10/13)
10/15 - Erica - I recently talked to Kate Herlihy and Sarah Jackson is going to be taken out of Earth Science and put into General ES next semester so I am assuming she will be dropped from the tutorial until that time.
10/15 - Erica - The galactic fashion show is on Tuesday right before break. They need to have an outfit, 12 business cards, and an announcers spiel. They need to incorporate the science into their fashion. Also on Monday there will be an astronomy quiz (moon, solar system, universe)
11/2 - Erica - The RRR project has been assigned to my students. It is due November 24th.
11/2 - Erica - A Plate Tectonics and Layers of the Earth test will be on Friday of this week.
